The Best Things To Do In Bohol Philippines:
1. The Famous Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills are one of Bohol’s most iconic landmarks! This breathtaking geological formation consists of over 1,700 symmetrical hills that turn brown during the dry season, resembling chocolate mounds. We recommend visiting the Chocolate Hills Complex, where you can hike up to the viewing platform for a panoramic view of this unique landscape. It’s a perfect spot for photos and a great way to appreciate the natural beauty of Bohol.

2. The Enchanting Tarsiers
Home to one of the world’s smallest primates, the Philippine tarsier, the Tarsier Sanctuary is a must-visit. We were captivated by these adorable creatures, known for their large eyes and unique ability to rotate their heads almost 180 degrees. The sanctuary provides a safe habitat for tarsiers, and guided tours educate visitors about their conservation. Be sure to keep your voice down and respect their space while observing these fascinating animals, as they are suicidal if they get stressed!
3. Loboc River
We had a fantastic time exploring Loboc River! We love an adventure, so we opted for stand-up paddleboarding instead of the traditional boat cruise. Paddling along this immense river allowed us to fully immerse in the stunning scenery and also led to some spectacular fails! It was an epic experience that offered a unique perspective of the river’s beauty.
However, if you prefer a more leisurely option, the Loboc River cruise is a fantastic choice. It features a buffet of local delicacies and often includes live music and traditional dances, making it a delightful way to experience the culture of the area while enjoying the picturesque views. Whether you choose to paddle or cruise, the Loboc River is sure to provide an unforgettable experience and is one of the top things to do in Bohol.
4. The Man Made Forest
Our next recommendation for things to do in Bohol is the Man-Made Forest in Bilar. This is a stunning stretch of mahogany trees that creates a picturesque canopy over a winding road! The spot has now become somewhat Instagram famous!
It’s worth noting that photo opportunities have to be stolen in between the many cars that take this route and the other tourists all looking for that iconic shot in the middle of the road! We would say it is a bit of an Insta vs reality moment, but it is still definitely worth a visit!
5. Alona Beach
Alona Beach is one of the most famous things to do in Bohol, and for good reason! It offers a beautiful stretch of white sand and crystal-clear waters that are the perfect escape for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts. The beach is lined with vibrant restaurants and bars, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploration. It is also a fantastic spot for a drone flight and to catch the sunset!
6. Virgin Island
Located off the coast of Panglao, Virgin Island is a stunning destination known for its pristine white sand beaches and spectacular sunsets. We took a boat trip to this idyllic spot, where we enjoyed a traditional Filipino Boodle Fight, swimming, and exploring the vibrant marine life while snorkeling. The island’s tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking scenery made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. It’s for sure one of the top things to do in Bohol. Don’t forget to bring your camera, as the views are simply unforgettable!
7. Coconut Wine Tasting
Coming last on our list of things to do in Bohol is coconut wine tasting! Coconut wine, or “tuba,” is a local delicacy in Bohol. You can visit local distilleries to learn about the traditional process of making this sweet, fermented drink. Sampling different varieties of coconut wine while enjoying the local culture is a delightful way to immerse yourself in Bohol’s culinary scene.
How Long Should You Stay In Bohol
We suggest spending at least 3 to 4 days in Bohol to fully experience its attractions and immerse yourself in the local culture. This timeframe allows you to explore the highlights at a leisurely pace while also enjoying some downtime on the beach.

The Best Time To Visit Bohol
The best time to visit Bohol is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During this period, you can expect pleasant weather, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
Shoulder Seasons: If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting Bohol during the shoulder seasons of May or November when the crowds are fewer and the weather is still pleasant. It’s best to avoid planning your trip during the rainy season, from June to September, as heavy downpours and choppy waters can hinder your plans.
When we visited: We visited in the shoulder season in May and we were very lucky with the weather. However, bear in mind May is very hot in The Philippines, so plan ahead if you are not a big fan of the heat!
