6. Ditaytayan Island
Ditaytayan Island is a hidden gem in the Philippines, known for its stunning sandbar that stretches out into turquoise waters, creating a picture-perfect paradise. However, reaching this remote island requires a bit of effort, as it’s quite a journey from Coron town by boat, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
It’s best to plan your visit on a calm day, as the seas can get choppy in windy weather. However, as it is pretty far off the beaten path, the island is much less crowded. It’s not uncommon to have the entire island to yourself, making this the perfect destination for those seeking a private slice of paradise and one of our top recommendations for the best things to do in Coron.
For drone enthusiasts, Ditaytayan Island is a dream, offering ample space to capture stunning aerial footage. However, exercise caution, especially on windy days, as the area is quite exposed and prone to strong gusts of wind. Despite the journey, visiting Ditaytayan Island promises unforgettable views and is definitely one of the best things to do in Coron.
Not may tours visit this island but here is one private speedboat tour that does visit Ditaytayan Island:
Alternatively, for a more budget friendly option, you could consider visiting Bulog Dos Island which has a very similar sand bar and is included in more affordable shared group tours. Here are some options below:
7. Malcapuya Island
Malcapuya Island is not far away from Ditaytayan Island and Bulog Dos, so if you pick the right tour, you could potentially tick off all these amazing islands in one day! All of these islands are out-of-this-world beautiful, and Malcapuya Island is no exception. It boasts pristine beaches, stunning rock formations, and a relaxed island vibe.
One unique feature of this island is a small basketball court right on the beach! If you are familiar with our blog and vlog, you will know that both of us are keen basketball players, having met through our love of the sport! Beth took the opportunity to play on the beach with the locals for over half an hour. It was an awesome experience, and we highly recommend jumping in and hooping on your visit if you are so inclined.
Similar to other remote islands in the area, getting to Malcapuya Island by boat is quite a long journey from Coron town, typically taking 1.5 to 2 hours. Plan ahead and try to visit on a calm day to ensure a smoother boat ride, however the journey is definitely worth it!

Speaking of diving and snorkelling, that brings us to the next on the list of best things to do in Coron, The Lusong Gunboat Shipwreck. Located near Lusong Island in Coron, this shipwreck is a significant World War II historical site that offers a fascinating underwater experience for snorkelers, freedivers, and scuba divers alike. This wreck rests at a depth of 10 meters on its side and, at its shallowest point, is just a meter or so below the surface. With conservation efforts in place and its remote location limiting human impact, Lusong Coral Garden remains a thriving ecosystem. If you are lucky, you may even spot a turtle!
12. Maquinit Hot Springs
Maquinit Hot Springs offer a unique and rejuvenating experience for visitors seeking relaxation. This saltwater hot spring is on the list of best things to do in Coron as it is one of a few of its kind globally, boasting temperatures between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius. Surrounded by limestone rocks, mangrove trees, and an adjacent beach, the setting provides a tranquil backdrop for unwinding after a day of exploration. The therapeutic waters can offer a peaceful soak while catching a sunset or relaxing under the stars.
You can opt to make your own way there from Coron town and it is usually a 20 – 25 minute tricycle ride along the southern coast of Busuanga Island. Alternatively, you can visit the Maquinit Hot Springs and other top attractions like Mt Tapyas as part of a really affordable Coron Town tour. Here are our top picks:

14. Kayangan Lake
Unfortunately, we were unable to visit Kayangan Lake during our trip to Coron, but it is one of the most popular sites in Coron, so we wanted to highlight it to ensure you do not miss out! Much like Barracuda Lake, this lake is brackish and is considered one of the cleanest in Asia! Visitors speak of its epic underwater rock formations and crystal-clear visibility!
